This is a must read and it doesn't have anything to do with me personally/STRANGER ALERT

No pictures but this is serious business.
Some of you that are friends with Meredith may have already heard about how her adorable little boy's picture was used in a false Go Fund Me.  Now that was terrible.  But this is even worse.
This morning a person I am friends on FB with posted this.  He is the nephew of my closest friend.  He fought for full custody of his daughter.  He does all kinds of things to raise money for Epilepsy since his young daughter has it.  Now, I am guessing but I think she may have just turned 13.
I am passing this information on because knowing someone that is so into the life of his sweet daughter and this still happened.
I will be using my words of his words since I can't share the whole thing.
To the point:
This dad took out an app called "My Mobile Watchdog" on his cell to monitor what his daughter was doing on her phone.  He researched this app and it was supported by CNN and others.  It's only $45 a year.  He took this out this week-end.
His daughter started a social media account.  Google Plus.  She begins talking to a complete stranger.  They exchanged phone numbers and pictures.  Then they started texting.  This came across his phone.  This person told this girl that her father was overbearing because he checked her phone.  She told her she couldn't wait to come to Ohio to adopt her.  She had a 16 year old that was told she was going to have a little sister.  She told her about going on dates and having sex.  She said she was a cool mom and they would have an open conversation about the girl's first time.  She told her to save her contact information in a "teen to teen" file.  She was to tell her dad that it was a teen mentoring line.  She gave her a code to use when she called because she didn't answer her calls unless she had this.  This is only part of the conversations he shared.
He has contacted Missing and Exploited Children.  He said this was a classic build up to being abducted and possible for a childhood sex ring.  He said the girl's home and school are on alert and watching for anyone approaching this child.  His child is really mad at him.  She has already been turned against him.  How long was this going on 3 DAYS.
My just turned 12 year old granddaughter told her dad that she is the only one in the classroom that doesn't have a cell phone.
I am wondering if this could be related to other religious groups.  I am avoiding the name so there is no connection to me.
I don't know about you but this is scary stuff.  This dad just took this young girl to Disney last fall.  My friend stayed with her for a week.    She is just a little innocent girl. WOW, Please warn those with young children.  It just makes me sick.

Debbie, That does sound like some sort of grooming ...too scary. I am so glad that father did keep track of his kid. I told my grandkids , don't you ever post or send or say anything you would tell me...cause it's out there once you send. Somebody's grandparents will be reading it. I think till a kid is grown and on their own, they need you to always be there...whether they like it or not. Bless you, xoxo,Susie

That just makes me feel sick. My granddaughter just got her phone and we have been warning her mom to put an app on it to guard her. I am going to pass this on to my daughter. Thanks for the warning, Debbie! xo Diana

This was a bit confusing to read...but I got the jist of it. Why does a little girl need a cell phone? Some of the things parents are giving their children now really amazes me. It was hard enough on my parents just making sure I didn't "talk" to strangers or get in anyones car while coming home from school.
What a mess!!

Oh Debby, that just makes me feel sicker than I already do. That girl might be mad at her Dad but he has probably saved her lived. This world can be such a mess filled with horrible people, but there are good people too, ones that will help any way they can.

Bless your heart and thank you for warning us with this post.

Internet and social media is very scary for everybody, including adults who are more vulnerable! I will pray for this family and especially young people around the world that don't have the kind of parent your young friend has! She may not realize it, but she is very fortunate to have a dad who loves her enough to protect her! Thank you for sharing this information! Blessings, Cindy

It's crazy the lengths that people will go to to lure children. Very sad! It's definitely something to be aware of and start a conversation with your children about it. My youngest is 14 and is a boy. He does not have a facebook account and only texts his friends and plays games on his phone. He is a homebody so fat chance of him straying from home too! I stay home and would know immediately if he was up to something not wise.

Something similar happened to a 7th grader at my school. The police are involved. The child was furious, even though everyone explained the dangers of a probable predator. She felt "controlled and babied". Also, it was reported by a teacher that the forum/group called "My Little Pony" has had predators.

I'm disgusted by this and I wish there were an answer for how to deal with it...I guess it's just educating your children and keeping up with all the blocks we have on phones and computers. My girls are older now...if they were this age I would want them to have cell phones so I knew they were safe and that they could contact me anytime. But I would be watching those phones like a hawk---no privacy for them whatsoever.

Saying prayers for this girl's family.

I notice one of your commenters said why give a phone. I so agree but our schools don't. They have kids take out their phones for homework. My friends granddaughter doesn't have a phone and a note was sent home that she will fail the class if one wasn't provided. This is middle school!! This is wrong in my book!

I think of my nieces and nephew (2, 5, and 6 years old), and they are soooo innocent and oblivious to all this junk! This is scary stuff. And how on earth do you protect them? My brother and his wife (I must admit) are the type that will give their kids anything! Including cell phones and Ipads! I cringe!:(
Thanks for sharing Debby!

Hi Debby,

This is so very disturbing! Unfortunately, it probably happen more than we know. Thanks for alerting us; the more we are aware, the less chance our children have of being caught in danger.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend,

Poppy

Wow.... It makes me glad my children are grown. I fear for all the little ones out there and any future grandchildren I might have though. There's some real sickos out there.

I also want to say how sorry I am that you lost your baby Izzy. (((hugs)))
