Getting started.  I painted the box first.

Next step is putting the ME paper on the top with Mod Podge.  I used this stuff many moons ago and it is still being used.
Then I cut out paper dolls from old Home Companion magazines.  I used Mod Podge to apply these.  I used a wet paper towel to press out the access, then after they dried I applied a couple coats all over.   The LIVE and Cherries were from ME.
All this rick rack came from a swap I was in.  I had to go get some glue to put this on....so it isn't finished.  When I bought these boxes at a garage sale, there were two for $1.  So, I made the little ones as well.  The little paper doll, Mickayla, looks like my Snow White.  Both dolls are from Christmas magazines.  I may use the larger one for my Christmas Box exchange.  I will post about that this week.  Feel free to go ahead and let me know if you are interested.
My altered boxes are usually cigar boxes but these were fun to do.

Are you doing a box exchange then? I better not be getting into that just yet until my construction is completed. I sure do like what you did with the boxes they are so cute.

Debby, These are so pretty! Wow, I didn't know you painted boxes. I adore boxes but yours look almost antique by the time you are finished with them. Now I see why you mention the rick-rack in your blog..you obviously like it. (I do too actually!)

Can I ask a dumb question? What exactly is ME...or LIVE or Cherries? I'm not sure what you are referring to.

Thanks so much for showing us how you made this. What a great idea for a gift. :o)

Debbie...You are just too clever...a M.E. box...you know I went nuts when I saw it...I have looked EVERYWHERE for my M.E. paper dolls and cannot find them to save my soul. I am getting so frustrated....get OCD when I can;t find what I am looking for. Your box really turned out cute. I would love to do a box. Just mailed off my 25 match boxes today so am free to play again. I am so relieved I got them out EARLY!!!

Hugs,
Genie

I know I'm a little slow in coming to the "party" but the ME box is cute. I'm thinking I might have to join in on the Christmas box swap.;-)
