Sweet baby

Hello friends.  I'm still around.  It is still raining, hah.  But after the weekend we are to have several dry days.  We had a couple cool days this week.  I love that in  the summer.  It is supposed to be in the 90's today but it is dark out, no sun at all.
Well my Mom is springing out from the rehab center this week-end.  My brother will finally be here.  In some ways she is ready others ways she isn't.  Sure hope she will change her ways but who knows.  I am glad to get a break for a week.
We will see her tomorrow when we go to Hubby's sisters for a family reunion.
We had another showing yesterday.  Three in a week.
About the doll.  She is my Betsy Wetsy when I was a little girl in the 50's.  Her eyes were sunken and were all cloudy and white.  Several restores said they couldn't fix her.  I took her to the doll hospital and museum.  At first the lady said no but when she heard it was my doll she took her on.  I guess removing her head can break it.  She cleaned her up, took the eyes out of the mechanism.  These are her eyes but they don't open and shut.  But isn't she beautiful.  I love her hair.  It pays to not give up.  Hmmmmmm, I need to use this as inspiration.

She is so cute. I don't have any of my dolls left, my sister has 1 or 2. My dad through them all away years ago, not sure why! So glad you will get a bit of a break this next week, I'm sure you will enjoy your family reunion! Blessings, Cindy

I knew right away who she was...I had one when I was a girl too. She is just precious and you can have fun dressing her and having her to play with. Enjoy your weekend sweet friend. Hugs, Diane

I have your doll's identical twin sister! Mine was a Santa gift, I think about 1955 or 1956. I just love her!

I'm glad you could get your doll restored. It it just a sentimental doll or is she worth much.
I know nothing about collecting dolls.

Hope the showing goes well and the house sells.
Hugs,
JB

I had this doll too! Her name was 'Mary Jane' to me, not Betsey. My doll's hair looked just like that too; my mom said that the neighbor girl decided to give her a shampoo which resulted in the permanent poodle look. What a nice memory! Enjoy her even if she has to be awake all the time (smile).

Hi Debbi, How your doll brought back the memories of my childhood. Good Luck with your mom glad your brother is coming. I keep praying that you get your house sold. Three showings in a week that is good. I will just say another prayer for all that is happening in your life. We have the heat in our area and storms, rivers out again. Take care. Hugs and Prayers from Your Missouri Friend. Shirley

What a beautiful doll! She reminds me of my doll when I was a little girl in the seventies; "Annabelle". The look on her face has the same sweetness. Pam xx

You will have to let me know the name of your doll hospital. I am looking for someone trustworthy to fix an eye problem with a doll that was my mothers!

And hoping you are doing nothing this weekend. You need a break and your brother can take over with your mom. And maybe if he is in charge, he will begin to understand what a job it is. Prayers.

Your Betsy Wetsy doll is beautiful. It's good you were able to find someone to do restoration to her. Your mom will probably feel so much better once she is back in her own home. I know I would. Be it ever so humble, my home is my castle. Have a super time at the family reunion. Hugs, Edna B.

I still have my Betsy Wetsy, too, but she is made from rubber. Our grandkids play with her, but they don't have the strength to squeeze her tummy to make her cry. I guess they don't make dolls like that anymore.

I hope your mother has a quick recovery so you have one less worry to keep you up at night. Enjoy your family reunion!
