Few Words Today

I am finishing up loose ends before I take off early Monday. Working today and going to visit with Doodle tonight. (Since our sleep over got cancelled last week-end) Tomorrow a 31 meeting and saying goodbye to Goose and K. Bug. Sunday a trip to see the Mom's. That takes a whole day. So laundry, house chores, phone calls are going to be squeezed in between. Wish the Hubby was going. I am sure Piper and Izzy will give him lots of attention while I am away.

Spring Chickies Spring Break

Today we have been under a tornado watch. We had hail, lots of rain and threatening skies. The temps are dropping from 79's to 20's and we might get snow. The sun was also shining off and on all day. Yep, it's Spring in Ohio. Soon I will head for Colorado where the weather is even more unpredicatble. But, who cares, there are babies that need kissed out there in the West. This Grammy can't wait to see those littles. I took a little nap this afternoon. When I woke up I was so excited that it was Friday and then I realized it was Thursday instead but then realized it was only Wednesay. Oh man....... Our little town shuts down at Spring Break. I remember when we moved here and didn't realize that this happened. We were the only people left in town. No kidding, it was a ghost town. The kids were so lonely. It is so much fun hearing all the places that the kids at school are going. It will be fun hearing all about their trips. Guess where Goose and K.Bug (my in town littles) are going. They are going to see Mickey. And guess what they don't have a clue. They are going to tell them the morning they leave. I am a little bummed that I am not going BUT I get to go see Disney Princesses on Ice in Denver. And I do believe that Mickey and Minnie make an appearance. I can handle that, oh yes I can.
So, off to bed I nurse the headache from the change in pressure and to dream about what day it is. Sweet Dreams my friends.

P.S. Don't hate me....Cindy named one of her baby chicks after me and Donna. I am so proud. She even said that little "Dee" is a little clown. Isn't that a hoot.

Easy Peasy Flowers and Soup

Use paper flower punches or die cute for the flowers. Use coordinating card stock for flowers and on the can (soup can), A little florist tape and some spagnum moss and a little green ribbon for leaves.........very simple and cute. You can put the flowers on pens and use dark beans or coffee beans inside the can to hold them. You can use brads and other things to decorate the flowers.
Now the easy soup......I made this last night. It is called WHITE CHILI but it is more like PINK CHILI. I am all about easy and fast....and this is both. I boiled a couple chicken breasts and added them to a jar of mild salsa, jar of white navy beans, and a cup of shredded Montarey (sp.) cheese. Heated on low/medium til warm. The soup is so smooth and yummy. To spice it up you can use Pepper Jack cheese and spicier salsa. If you would like you can use those tortilla chippy things in the soup. It also has to be low in calories. Oh, I did add about a half to a cup of water.
Okay that's it for today........have a good one.

For your Irish Eyes

Happy St. Patrick's Day. I borrowed the clover image.....thought it was so pretty. Not alot of green around here. But we do celebrate......the birthday of my Sweet Son Shane Patrick. I called him at 7:00 a.m so I could be the first. I was the first one to see him.......besides Mr. C.B.
Okay there is going to be some rambling around on this post.
I left work early yesterday and took the morning off. I didn't feel great but feel much better now. I just needed some rest. Who takes a job that gets you up so early in the morning. I seriously may rethink this next year. I love my job but not the hours. I soon will putting on the green and head back to school for a gold hunt. After work the Hubby and I are going out for a simple dinner. He will be home before me tonight as he is going to see that knee doctor. Sure hope he gets to the bottom of this swelling and pain.
Oh, I am eating some left over brocolli cheese soup while I blog....multi tasking right.
Have you seen the laughing baby video. I loved the first one that laughed as his daddy tore up his rejection notice. I love the second one even more. The baby is in a bouncer and his mommy blows her nose. Baby is so scared and then laughs. So adorable that it makes you laugh watching it.
In all these chaos in Japan, have you seen the dog video. The one dog that look alot like a Springer won't leave his hurt companion another dog. So heart warming. I have heard that both of the dogs are okay and being cared for. Praying for that country.
Okay leaving you with this Irish blessing borrowed from a Halmark card. Happy St. Patrick's Day Friends.
May you always be blessed with a roof for the rain
A warm cup of tea by the fire
Laughter to cheer you
Those who love near you
And all that your heart might desire.

A caring heart

I had breakfast with a dear friend this morning. Actually she was my instructor when I was in college for my Early Childhood Degree. We were the same age and became friends and still are. She made this quilt for me. She said she was worried about me. Knowing she couldn't be with me after having two foot surgeries she said she made this quilt. She called it a "quilt as you go". She said she would gather scraps and sew as she was able to after her surgery. She wanted me to cover myself when I needed to feel loved. She says that when someone she cares about needs her prayers that she does something like this. Sometimes she sees something that reminds her of that person. She will place it where she sees it often and when she does it reminds her to pray for them. She says when the person no longer needs her prayers she gives them the item. She also said if that person doesn't pull through she gifts the family with the item. Isn't this just the greatest way to pray for someone. I just had to share with you.
We try to meet half way between our homes every couple of months. Sometimes our husbands go as well. One of us will most likely have a present for each other. It's funny because it just happens......not really for an occassion but "just because". She is going to be a grandma for the first time soon. I already have some gifts in mind that I would love to make for her.

Oh Gnomeo Oh Gnomeo

The girls took Grammy and Grampy to the movie.........even though it was the other way around..........what a cute movie. At first I thought, oh my we spent all this $$$$$ on a movie with yard ornaments that don't move. It wasn't long til we were all laughing. It was a cute movie. The girls are 5 and 7 but and they loved it. The best part was Elton John as a Gnome. Not to spoil the movie but the ending wasn't tragic.
The movie might have been cheaper if we didn't have to buy two icy drinks, two diet cokes, a large tub of popcorn, a big bag of Skittles and a big bag of Life Savor Gummies. Oh well, we had fun......lots of fun.

My First Blogging Anniversary

I almost missed my blogging anniversary. has been a year now. I have made some great friends. You are such a supportive genuine group of people. I would say that blogging is life changing. It just makes you feel "better about life." It is so hard to explain to those that don't blog what this is all about. I finally quit trying.

My first experience of reading a blog was from my daughter's friend Amy of Prone To Wonder. I loved reading about her travels and her sweet little kiddos. I decided I would love to try to blog. I asked her what to do. I am still amazed that with her information I could actually start my blog. Thanks Amy.

My first follower was Frenchy of Chateau de Fleurs. Thanks Frenchy for being the sweet person that you are. Many posts went by without a comment. Sometimes I thought I was talking to myself. Then out of nowhere you all stopped by. What a wonderful group of people you are.

I didn't mean for my blog to be so personal. If you know me in real life, you should be laughing now. You see I don't know a stranger.

Thanks you all for making blogging so heartwarming. You have all touched me in so many ways. XO

The sun is shining

I love this little wall. I love the pictures of my "littles" the crosses and the keys. The sun is shining today and I am going to attempt to get this home back in some sort of order. That hasn't seemed important lately but I think I will feel much better if I at least attempt the chore.
Maybe I will put away the Valentine decorations and put some springy things out. I think I will bake a gluten-free pizza tonight. That's what I miss the most about having Celiac Such a fun meal.........mmmmmmm, I really do need to make one for us tonight.
Not the greatest of weeks. I am questioning my job.....I know I need Spring Break really bad. I just don't get why some kids are so disrespectful. When you work school holidays and snow days we don't get a break. Why do kids think they can swing at you.......geez Lousie.
I have boxes and boxes of Girl Scouts cookies. My Mr. Cozy Blanket gets to eat all of them that I don't give away. I think I will bake some GF brownies for me.
Last night my Hubby asked how I was feeling. I said okay. He then said, "No really." I cried. Hmmmm, guess that says it all.
My K. Bug has been sick this week. Her Mama and Daddy took her to the doctor twice. The last time she was tested for H1N1. I am wondering if they requested this test thinking somehow I might have passed that on to her. The test was negative. I guess I can't blame them.
My nephew made a special trip to give my brother some cigar boxes for me since he was going to see me last week-end. He works for a cigar company but said he doesn't get the boxes often. So nice he rounded me up a few. I think I will get around soon to making some more of these altered boxes.
Oh, I think I will go downstairs and get on the antique computer and retreive some blogs that this laptop kicks me off of. If you haven't heard from me for awhile you might be on that list. My computer is still in the shop. Not sure it can be repaired. I need a new one but I am going to Colorado instead. Yep, you heard me. My daughter booked me a flight for Spring Break. I just know seeing those four little grands will make me smile.
Praying for Japan. So sad. When the last Tsunami happened, I didn't hear about it for days. We were homeless, so to speak. We had just had a horrible ice storm. So much damage and no power. We scrambled to get out of our neighborhood and find a place to stay.....on Dec. 23. I just can't imagine how homeless this is for so many.
I am blessed to have all of you being so wonderful.....blessed to have a home on a hill (even if our roof has a leak)........blessed to have a sweet family.........doggies that fight over my lap........a job (I guess), and things to keep me busy and to look forward to.
I hope the sun is shining where you live and I hope you accomplish all you set out to do.

Our Sweet Goose turns five

Birthdays should always be celebrated whether we are 5 or 50 . Never dread a birthday. You may not want to have a flower making clown, play pin the petal on the flower, have chocolate suckers and edible grass, having a Grampy in charge of a craft, eat only the icing on the cake BUT DO CELEBRATE EACH BIRTHDAY.

Moving on

I borrowed this image awhile back but it is truly me today. I am sad and spent. I went back to my home town and to my cousin's services. I knew it would be hard but that is an understatement. The whole church was sobbing and not a dry eye to be seen. Huggging and crying and remember this stronger than life person. Slide shows of pictures of good times and memories. Relatives not seen often. The Florida group that went to say goodbyes. That bond will always be there. I do not question why. I know my Jo is with Jesus. That is only comfort in this. We all feel so much saddness for her husband that is so alone right now. He has a great support system but that isn't enough. Hopefully his faith and his love for Jo will pull him through this as we all move on. And move on is what we will do. We will remember and miss those good times. We will cherish our time with our loved ones. ..................................................................................................................
Today I will dry my swollen eyes and put on a happy face. Actually a "clown" face for my sweet little Goose's 5th birthday party. It had been scheduled for yesterday but changed because of the services. Two little ones showed up anyway yesterday and wondered why no one was home.....ooops. Hopefully this will get the "moving on" speeded up. I let my Hubby sleep in this morning. Driving and standing has worn him out. That knee is not bouncing back. I forgot to mention that we drove through very flooded areas in my hometown. Actually newscast of the floods was on the The Weather channel all day. Then on our way home we went through heavy rain to snow. I will rest later today. I went home a day earlier than the rest of my family. Staying with my Mom and sleeping on the couch isn't restful. No one eats at my Mom's either. At least not til late evening. So rest and nutrition is in the books for the next couple of days. So tomorrow my friend I will post happy pictures. I am moving forward.
Thank you all again for being there for me. Thank you for letting me vent. What big hearts you all have.

Altered Coin Folders

The pink one was in my giveaway. (I haven't heard from Julia yet) I started making these several years ago. The pink is open for whatever you want to do with it. You can replace some of the circles with photos. You can cover several of them with a larger photo. You can put a photo on the front and on the inside flap. So much fun to decorate.
The zoo one was a trip to the Denver zoo with two of my grands. These are fun for babies, a special trip, families, weddings. You can alter them anyway you want.
The coin folders were hard for me to find. When I did I ordered several. I imagine you can get them online.
Another fun way to use photos to tell a story.

Let's Go Gray!

My sweet granddaughter in the pink pants. My sweet son on the bench with the BB. The other sweet girl I used to babysit for her and her sisters. Sorry I didn't get the tornado drill in a picture. They move too fast. These pictures are a little grainy......the lighting in the gym.
