Snow/Blogging/and a GIVEAWAY

This was taken this morning in the township of the village where I live.  Not my house, not my picture, not my neighborhood, but it's COZY.
Schools are cancelled everywhere.  Our snow is coming to an end.  I am really worried about those in the path of the historic snowfall that has been predicted.  I know that the weather forecasters have to prepare people for this storm, but I wish they could break the news a little less frightening.  Any, how, please stay safe and warm my Cozy followers.

Brenda of Cozy Little House brought up a great subject the other day.  She brought up how blogging has changed the last 4 or 5 years.  I started blogging almost 5 years ago.  While I don't think my blogging has changed, so many other blogs have.   So many have just quit blogging for one reason or another.  Some of the bigger blogs continue to go to the extreme on showing how to decorate their homes.  I swear they redo and redo.  They don't get to know their followers.  Some never comment after you have commented on their blogs for years.  There are less giveaways. Lectures on how to build your blog.  Ads, they are okay for those that want to make a little money on the side.  When I can't finish reading a blog after several pop ups, not so fun. Well those are the things I don't like about blogging...................but here are the things I do like.......................
friendships and even meeting in real life
a caring community
simple down to earth people that are on a budget, live in small homes and have a lot of heart
great ideas for gifts and decorating
personal stories
comments
swaps
Giveaways
I am sure that there are many other reasons but these are the ones that stand out to me.
I have decided to have a giveaway.  Follow down and you will see what I am giving away.  It came from Décor Steals.  It isn't really for spices but it does hold those tiny tiny spices, pill bottles, just small things.  I would not put loose spices in it.  But, it's cute.  I even saw it on someone elses' post.  I have had it for awhile.  I thought I ordered one but ended up ordering two.

I was busy last week finishing swaps for the mini swap girls, plus a couple of other swaps.  I have shown most of the pictures and will share more after my people get their packages.  I have always liked that "my people" phrase.
I have been receiving al those mini swap items as I am the host.  I will have to put my snow boots on to get the mail today.  It has been so much fun getting these packages 'm sure my mail lady is not happy with me.  Remember the one that pulls in the driveway and throws the package out.  I had to tattle on her twice .  We almost drove over packages that she put in a white trash bag and left in the snowy driveway.  They also leave packages very far from the front door.  Once she came to the door for a certified letter.  Our Yorkie always runs out to greet anyone.  She about freaked out.  She said, "Oh, I can't deliver mail when there is a dog out."  I am speaking of a Yorkie not a pit bull.  So as of lately she stuffs them in the mail box. No comments on how pit bulls are sweet and safe pets, I was just comparing.

Our week-end consisted of three basketball games.  Actually four.  All of us that share the same last name went to Goose's game at 9 a.m.   I love that we can really fill up the seats. Goose is little.  The team playing against them had really tall and sturdy girls.  Goose went in for a rebound.  She held on for dear life.  Would you believe the other girl totally off lifted Goose off the ground, her skinny little legs were just hanging there.   But Goose was still holding on.  Mabel was to play at 10 at another school.  So we all get in our cars for Mabel's game.  Now remember my son is one of the coaches.  Well............her game was at 9 and it was over.  Hah.  If you know this little family, they are always late, and mixed up.  But in their defense, you should see there schedules. Also only three others showed up.  It's hour by hour in their world.  So, Hubby and I went to breakfast and went back to see the 6th grade game  Now, I don't think I told you but our six grader broke her little finger and isn't even playing.  We went anyway.  There is also another girl on the team that  we are close to.  I came home and made chili for the chili cook off at church the next morning.  When it was finished at 8 p.m. Hubby said he really wanted to sleep in and not go to church. He had been sick all week and worked non-stop.  And sleep in he did.......til 11:30.  We went to our grandson's game and to their house afterwards.  I'm a wreck after his games.  His coach is loud and yells all the time.  This time the other coach was just as bad.  My husband who does not hear well, heard him say SOB from clear across the gym.  He got a talking to after that by a ref.  Then things got very quiet.  My DIL was hosting a Wildtree meal workshop at another friends house.  I was going to go but was worried about the snow.  I will still be making my meals later.
I sure made you go through a lot of chatter to get to the giveaway.
You don't have to do anything but be a follower and comment.  The post office is going to love me walking in next week with 21 packages.
Deadline for this giveaway is Feb. 1.  I will draw the names that day.

I hope that everything turns out okay for those in the path of the storm.
Stay warm and cozy out there my friends.

I told you this was cute.

Those are darling! I follow you on GFC and Feedly. My email is attached to my blog. BTW, I also enjoyed the discussion on the then and now of blogging. It was certainly interesting.

I am going back to all the homey blogs and starting again. I was feeling a little left out of all the glamour and fanciness. And I had some life going on, too. I have been lurking and reading some of my favorite blogs and yours is one of them.

What a crummy experience at those ball games. I don't like to go to our mall anymore either; the kids yell out obscenities for no reason. Not necessary.

Stay warm. I am so happy I don't have to go out in this to drive to work anymore!

How cute and generous. I have a toy poodle, and he barks, but he wants someone to pick him up.

I'm sorry to hear that you've been having such nasty weather. However, the snow is so pretty! We are getting rain and very cold temps. I agree that blogging has changed a bit. I've been noticing fewer giveaways and more social media added on to blogs. I've also noticed that some people have stopped altogether. I've seen a lot of people stop blogging and just use instagram instead. I like to make relationships with blogging so I don't plan on changing too much. The item you're giving away is so cute. However, please don't include me in the giveaway as I don't have a place for it. I would rather it go to someone who could use it.

Yep, that's a lot of snow. Stay safe. I agree about blogging. I've never been one to try and keep up with anyone or to be bigger and better. I like the connections and friendships I've made virtually and in person over the years, so don't plan on doing anything different, and won't be giving it up any time soon. Of course, I'm not entering the giveaway ... just stopping by to say hello. Best wishes, Tammy

Hi Debby, Keep your toes warm girl. :):) We didn't get all the snow that was predicted and I am happy about that. The sun is shining here. I am with you on thinking of the east coast...they are really in for a rough go. God be with them. Stay safe, xoxo,Susie

Great post...I think there's more GOOD things about blogging than bad.. I love it...at my age, it's good to blog as it keeps my olden, feeble mind working half-way normal. hahhha...

Oh brrrr that looks so cold... Beautiful though and one sure needs a cozy blanket. I love the name of your blog! I really enjoyed reading about the change in time in the world of blogs. I think part of the fun of blogging is the meeting of like minded people and sharing with each other. Luckily there are a whole lot of sweet and caring bloggers and I'm happy to meet you via Vicki, who's most certainly one of them. I'm going to follow you through linky followers, because GFC has a limit of 300 something blogs one can follow and I'm already on my limit, lol. Thank you so much for giving us a chance to win your giveaway! Wishing you a happy week! Wendy of http://appleapricot.blogspot.com/

Hey, Debby!!! I am with you on some of the changes I see in the blogging world. I like to think of 'my people' as friends and enjoy the two way street of communicating. I also like to be real and meet other real people. I have been thinking about my sister bloggers and they have become very dear to me. I never want more followers than I can get to know.
Your spice tins are adorable.
Coaches seem to forget they are supposed to be setting examples of good character!!!

Oh my goodness....all that snow!! It makes a Southerner have a hissy fit!!:) I agree with you about blogging. When I first started, I met a group of ladies on a homemaking forum and we were all bloggers so we enjoyed "visiting" each other. Now it seems to be so competitive as to who can get the most comments. One of my favorite bloggers has become so commercial that I find I do not like following her so much. Glad to meet you as you are my kind of blogger!!

I've been sneaking national coverage of Storm Juno in between faculty appts at work today. As much as I love winter and snow, this storm does sound terrifying. Please continue to show your miniature swap posts. You know how much I just love seeing mini things. Hugs!

It's very very cute! I shouldn't enter though because I've won your giveaways before! Have a good week my friend...stay safe! Sweet hugs, Diane

Hi Debby, we're having a snow storm tomorrow and it's supposed to be a big one.

I'm with you on how blogging has changed but I still enjoy blogging. My followers are all different and and I enjoy the diversity and I learn a lot.

I know some people are trying to grow their blogs but they don't reciprocate comments. I'm not blogging as much because of working 7 days a week. My days are filled and blogging is just a way to relax.

You're a good grandmother to go to the kids games.
Stay safe and warm.
Hugs,
JB

Hey, Debby. No snow here, but I had to leave my son's early last night to escape the snow they were getting today. As you know, I gave up blogging but due to personal reasons, not blogging issues. But just in the short few years I've been following blogs, I can see many changes. I hate the pop up ads and the posts that make you click over to the next page as well. I realized a long time ago that the big bloggers never reply to comments so I quit commenting. Now I mostly read. I wish there was a LIKE button because i would gladly use that - I just don't have much to add to what others have said. You don't have to count me for the drawing. I just wanted to check in with you. Take care.

You crack me up wi th your stories- I can hear you talking! We had very light snow last nite- Destiny's school cancelled classes.- weiRd. I spent the day picking up the house , okay, just 2 rooms- after the painters left. I think he took some things- I KNOW I put my accessories from the bookcases in boxes and now some of them are gone! He had to have sneaked them out with his tarps cuz I was home the entire times he was painting. I am not a happy camper. Okay, rambling... I will have to call you! xo Sue

I love the homey blogs too, Debby. Nothing against those whose blogs have enormous audiences--they have a place too--but I love the personal touch from the "old days" of blogging.
Wish those in the East could send a little weather our way. Not a drop or a flake in all of January. We'll take absolutely any precip and you won't hear a peep of complaint--instead we'd probably throw a party!
Stay safe and warm!

Hi Debby, My weekend sounded like yours in the basketball. I watched 5 of my middle grandson played in. They played in a tournament along with league play. Then I had to have time to go to a pinewood derby with my other grandson. After the last game on Sunday was finished, they took me with them to dinner. It was an enjoyable weekend, but I was exhausted. Our weather has been like a roller coaster. It was in the 50's today, but no snow. We may get it this weekend.
Take care Hugs and Prayers from Your Missouri Friend Shirley

Hi Debby, I so agree with both of you about blogging. But them I one of those bloggers that gets a freeze. Yep, can't think of a thing to write, no photo skills so all I do is enjoy reading every ones. There isn't a morning that I don't sit down and checkout your blog along with lots of others. Now do I comment, sometimes, do I laugh, cry, chuckle every morning. I sure do and love, love my blogging friends. I love my down home friends, so keep the blogging coming!! Hugs!!

Hi Debby! Thanks for coming over to say hi! It's cold in Illinois, but we haven't had that much snowfall this year. Thank God, because I hate winter! Stay safe and warm my new blog friend!

Hi Debby,

Lovely picture of the snow in your neck of the woods. You have made many keen observations about blogging. I started almost 3 years ago, so I can't really compare the situation as those who have been blogging for longer.

I have more spice tins than I know what to do with, so I'll refrain from entering your lovely giveaway.

Happy Wednesday!

Poppy

Debby I have to agree that blogs have changed a bit over time. I know mine has changed from a lot scrap booking to a lot of photography. But that's mostly because I got a lot more into my photo hobby.

I am guilty of not comment to comments but sometimes I do acknowledge them in the content on my blog post. I really should try to get better in this area.

I have a few blogs that I follow daily, and I miss my blogger friends when they are not posting on their blogs for a while. I worry about them.

I've made such wonderful friends through blogging. I think it's a wonderful way to stay connected with other folks.

Now it's time to think about what's for lunch today. You have a wonderful day. Hugs, Edna B.

I so agree about blogging. I still miss the old days and do not bother to read the mega blogs. I so much prefer the real, genuine blogs!

Interesting about the blogs. I was just checking on mine and clicked on a few of my blogs I have in the blog roll. I was udating my favorites the other week and really found three quarters of the blogs gone. It's hard to keep up for years with interesting and new things to post I think. I'm just thinking here what I can come up with to post myself. I see you have a give away you were always good at doing that. Nan

WOW …. that's a lot of snow Debby …… we have only had a light dusting so far.
….. and, I know what you mean about blogging. I started blogging 5 years ago and so many bloggers have stopped now, many of whom I was really friendly with.
…… and, many, many thanks for your birthday wishes….. another year older !! XXXX

Hi Debby, I can't figure out how to change my header on my blog, let alone "go big". I'm happy with my circle of crafty bloggy friends and enjoy visiting. After all these years - we feel like "real" friends. My house is big - but it was "cheap" - a true blessing is what it was. I have fun filling it with yard sale furniture and redo's - but my smaller house was cute, too.

Hi Debby, though I'm too late for your cute giveaway, I thought I would drop by and say thanks for visiting me last weekend (GYB) :)

Here in Canada we are well on our way to losing door-to-door mail service. Appreciate it, flawed as it may be :) Also, I should think your posties would be glad of all the business you bring them with your swaps. Just sayin' LOL
