Hello there

Sorry, I borrowed this picture as the snowman picture.  Please don't sue me.  If you know the owner, I would gladly give them credit.  Isn't this just beautiful.  Have you heard that they are finding snow owls in the South.
I thought I would use the picture instead of taking a picture outdoors today.  I woke up to all of our snow being melted.  We are having a warm up, which is a good thing.  But in my book, there should be snow on the ground if it is winter.  I think all of our furnaces and pipes need a rest from the freezing cold.  We had pipes that froze and busted.  No water damage though, because our pump is in a hole in the ground.  Our hot water heater shares the space with the pump.  It's very weird, and not our idea.
Good news on Deb.  She was able to talk on the phone after yet another surgery.  She may be transferred back to the local hospital.  Hoping they can start treatment for the cancer soon.  She has to be strong to have gone through the endless surgeries and complications.
Basketball starts up today after the long holiday.  Baby O. is coming for a visit.  I can't wait to see her.
When I'm not watching M and M, I feel so lazy. Just read blogs and do the basics to get buy.  I need to be more productive.  Maybe it's the post holidays readjustment.  It seems that we are non-stop getting ready for everything and then BAM it's over.
I still don't have a word for the year yet.  Last year's word was enJOY.  It turned out to be a good word for the year.  So I am thinking or looking for a postive word for the year.  I have a couple ideas that I should decide soon.  I know that you are all waiting to hear, hah.
Remember the 20 Wishes....the book I read and I talked about choosing those wishes.  I am going to do that for sure.  Kinda like a check list for here is a start.  (There is no rhyme or reason to the order of this list)  These are not resolutions but wishes.  Therefore if I fail, I will not feel as guilty.  Way to be positive, right.

1.    To try the Paleo Diet.  Not a diet but a lifestyle change.  I don't know if I can do it but I want to try.
2.     I want to be able to reduce the amount of medication that I take on a daily basis.
3.    Walk or swim on a regular basis.
4.     Spend less time on the computer
5.     Find a new church.  One that is small enough to get involved and know each other.
6.     Create more.  I need to use up supplies and make all those things that I have been wanting to.  (So sad that Archivers is going out of business.)
7.     Redo the bedrooms.  Kinda shop the house kind of redo plus paint.  I have all the accessories just need the blank canvas.
8.     Paint wise.
9.     Spend time with good friends that I haven't seen for awhile.
10.   Volunteer somewhere.  I used to be a full time volunteer.  When we adopted our son I put that on hold.  He was so high maintenance I just couldn't do it anymore.  The places that I want to volunteer at may not be a good idea.  I can't (won't) adopt any children or animals......and think I need to avoid those areas.  We will see what comes up.

Okay, time for you to wake up....if you made it this far, I will save you the suffering and continue another time.
I am off to work on a project for my friend Genie.  It has to do with snow.......imagine that.
I am thinking of another swap  Any ideas, ladies.
Til later.

Hi Debby, I think that you are on the right tract with taking care of your health with the 4 first items on your list. Don't take on too much but have fun whenever you can. You seem to be such a sweet and caring person. It's time to look after you and make it a habit. It takes 21 days to make a good habit stay. Good luck.

So sorry about the busted pipes, Winter can be so hard on water pipes.
I hope that you have a great weekend.

You know me....A Valentine’s Day banner...and how I adore banners. Whatever you decide you know I will do it...between all of my wild and wacky quilting. I’ve gone bonkers. Your list for the new year is close to mine. I am already doing a LOT of paleo. Mattie HAS to live gluten and alcohol free and can have only small amount of lactose. She becomes very ill if she eats even the tiniest amt of gluten. No, you do not need any more children or pets...and neither do we. Be a Gray Lady at the hospital...or go and read to lonely people in nursing homes. That’s what I’ve always wanted to do. Not much posting to Climbing these days...mostly to Buttons. Love ya.

I never came up with a word for the year either. I think it's a neat idea though. You've obviously done some thinking about what you want to accomplish this year and that's good!

It's good to write and get things off your mind...we ladies love to talk and listen and of course, give our 2 cents!! I actually have much of the same on my "wish list". I just call them goals or resolutions (Why is everyone bashing the word Resolution, it simply means your are resolving to do or not do something).

I think I am going to go back to the Atkins Diet...just eliminate carbs all together. I did it for 3 years a long time ago and I lost 40 pounds in 2 months. It is like anything else, after your taste buds and mind forget the sugar, you're fine. I fell off it because I stopped working and all I wanted to do when I was bored at home was eat. I have to change that. When you are seriously overweight with high cholesterol, you can't mess around with sissy diets!

I have often thought of volunteering in some way. We have two major hospitals within 5 minutes of me. Food for thought. Oops, you have me thinking about food! ;-)

I have never picked a "word" for the year but maybe this year I should. I like your list for 2014. Lists are good, I think. Yesterday it was 61 here. I was not happy. I think like you - its winter - there should be snow and cold. Enjoy the rest of your weekend, Debby!

I like the idea of making wishes instead of resolutions. It sounds like so much more fun! It would be nice to volunteer at a charity thrift store...of course I would bring home to many 'treasures' if I did that! Sweet hugs!

Your list has inspired me. So I guess it's time to make a list of my 2014 goals. Funny how writing them down really makes a difference!

I love your wish list. We share some of the same wishes! Eating healthy, exercise and using what I already have in my craft room!

Happy New Year Debby. I have missed you. I totally understand how your feeling because I have been feeling the winter blues for a long time now.
Sorry about your pipes. We don't have your temps but it did get down to 19 here and busted a lot of pipes and caused major headaches for me.
Enjoyed reading your wishes for the New Year. I hope your able to have them come true.
Enjoyed by visit with you tonight.
My computer is not working right so I don't blog much.
Love ya

I guess my word for the year is "weight" I HAVE to lose. It's going to cost me my health if I don't. I'm not hugely overweight but I don't like the way I look and need to lose at least 35 pounds. It just stacked up on me.

You have some great things you want to do. I need to try that. Make a list and see how much I accomplish.
I think I am afraid of failing. Never thought of it the way you put it..and I LIKE that way of thinking.
Thank you for taking the time to post something so inspirational!
Big hugs,

I love your idea of a New Year's list instead of resolutions. I love lists. I want your snow, oh do I wish we would have some here in NORTH Carolina. What a big heart you have <3 & you have made me want to volunteer a lot more than I do :)This is where my list loving will come in hand to keep me organized. Have a wonderful night and keep warm, Holly

Sounds like you have a wonderful list of goals and wishes for the new year. I want to make some much needed changes too and I think many of them start with slowing down and not rushing so much. At least that is where I'm going to start. Your list was very inspiring. You can tell you gave it a lot of thought.

Love your list!! A good way to try and organize your thoughts! not sure I have an idea for a swap, but I loved participating in your valentine swap last year!

Your wish list sounds pretty good to me. I think if I made a list, losing weight would have to be at the top of the list. Good luck with your list. I think the idea of volunteering at a hospital or nursing home is a great idea. Have a wonderful day, hugs, Edna B.

I haven't been by for awhile and wondered what you were up to.

I like your 20 wishes and I share many of them. I am swimming 3 times a week now and walk every day. I just created a dedicated work space for myself to be more creative. I don't know anything about the Paleo diet so I am going to check it out.

Good luck with your wishes and finding a word.

I picked a phrase this year - The Year of the House. Halfway through January and we already have 2 of the big projects complete and a third starts in a week.

You are ambitious. my friend...I know all you do on a regular basis, and since you are only human, well, super grandma;-), give yourself a break. Baby steps, small changes can make a big difference. I think you are amazing! Love, Penny

"To try the Paleo Diet. Not a diet but a lifestyle change.

Good for you! You are adventuresome and that's cool.

I've read lots on it. As I have on all sorts of how to eat more healthy ways. Right now, I'm sort of settled into simply eating as completely organic, as possible.

Oh and I love the French way of eating. Real foods. Not too much. Truly enjoy what one eats.

We all certainly need to pay more attention to our bods. If they quit on us, where will we live, hu? ,-)

Best of luck!

I tried to Reply to you, but it would not deliver. So, I'll just copy what I wrote, below, and you can read it here.

We sound a lot alike, in our Trying To Maintain Health Saga. Good luck
with your plans.

When you get yourself exercising, please come over here, and take me along
with you? Just a simply daily walk is all I want. And I seem to not be
able to *make* myself do it. -moan- -sigh- -sob- -sniff-

Sure it's winter here now, but I have a (dreaded) treadmill upstairs.
-sighhhhh- Grrrr... LOL.
