Why does saying good-bye have to hurt so much

Good bye my sweet Kiki (aka Clarisse) .  You were my wild little one.  You were born to a Ferrel mama and rescued by a vet.   That vet brought her to me saying that you needed someone to give you a lot of love.  You didn't like to be held .  You would hide from everyone else by me and Mr. Cozy.  Sometimes you were funny.  You would come out of hiding to eat crackers with me.  I knew that you were really sick when you started having all those accidents.  I knew you were loosing weight.  I was still surprised that you only weighed 8 pounds last night.  I hope that you will forgive me for capturing in that quilt and tucking you in the basket.  I think you liked it later.  You were funny, you poked your head out and then went back inside the quilt  You slept in the basket while the doctor checked you out.  She said you were terminal and would only last a couple of months with treatment.  I knew you were hurting so I couldn't let that keep happening.  Please forgive me for what was next to come.  I rubbed you and told you that I loved you and then went to walk out the door.  I came back because I wanted to see those fabulous green eyes of yours.  They don't show up in the pictures.  You weren't the prettiest of cats but those eyes were wonderful.  You looked up at me one last time and I left the room.  The vet said it would all happen right away.  So so sorry, you are already missed.  12 years of having you around, it will take awhile to get used to you that.  Goodbye little kitty, xo.

Debby, I am so very sorry about your beloved kitty. I know how hard it was to make the decision as I have been there before. I wasn't as strong as you because I cried uncontrollably as I brought my terminal kitties to the vet. I was heart broken and it took me quite a while to come to term with it so I never want to go through that again. I had more than one that ended out that way. It's the worst feeling.
Big Hugs.

I'm so sorry. I tear up because I've been there and it hurts like hell. They are so precious and vulnerable and depend on us so much. All I know to say is: Be good to yourself. Allow yourself a long time to grieve. I'm still grieving a dog from 8 years ago. They give us companionship and joy. May you know that we all care and send you hugs and hold you in our hearts.

Oh Debbie, I can't seem to stop the tears, your tribute is so touching! I am so sorry for your loss of a true companion. I'm sure she gave you so much unconditional love.
You made the right decision regarding her little life. It is sooo hard when they run to the Rainbow Bridge, but she is in such a better place now with her friends and family who went ahead of her!

Miss Kitty & I are sending you many Purrs & Hugs...

It does hurt terribly so when we lose our fur babies.. incredible emptiness and sadness.. I know, Ive been there a few times. I'm so sorry you had to let your baby go. but she is no longer suffering and you can rest on the fact that you gave her a wonderful loving home, that she may not have had otherwise. she knew that too. Im sure they know.big hugs to you Deb..

God bless you during your tremendous grief from losing a beloved pet of so many years. I have 4 cats, & the house is empty-feeling when 1 just stays at the vet's all day for dental cleaning. I had a male cat for almost 21 yrs & everyone said what beautiful eyes he had. But I thought he was beautiful because he was mine! Thanks for giving your kitty such a wonderful life. Mary

So sorry about your loss. We lost three within the last year having to put them down for various illnesses. It is hard. Bless her and your heart.

I'm so sorry for your loss Debby. It hurts when our beloved fur babies must pass on. When my Tootsie went, I held her in my arms till way past her last breath. It was so hard to hand her over to the doctor. Just know that your precious Kiki has no more pain, and is thankful for the love that you gave to her. Hugs, Edna B.

Hi Debby= sorry to hear about your kitty.
Our little Buster misses his big sister. He spent the first 2 nights looking for her and getting up several times to go out through the night. Last night I left a lamp on ...and he did much better. He usually sleeps with her--now he sleeps on her pillow.
Our pets take it as hard as we do when we lose a family member.
