Week-end cut short

The scenery was beautiful at the scrapbooking retreat. Nothing like the sound of the horses feet going down the road.
It was cloudy and raining off and on the whole time I was there. And to top that off......cooler temps. Love that part.
The horses were quite far away when I went to take the picture. There were cows as well.
Now about the you notice there are no other pictures. Wellllllll where do I start.
About one hour after we arrived and everyone (12 of us) were unpacked in the scrapping room, the owner came in and said, "I have found the light on in the bathroom twice now." Say, what? Are you kidding me. Then she said we would wait until everyone got there and she would show us the sleeping quarters. I think we were expecting them to be in the same building so you could come and go when you wanted to. No, we all paraded down the hill to the basement of her home. One window as the rest were blocked with wood. 20 beds......bunk beds. There were sheets but they had sat there for awhile and needed brushed off. We all put our sheets over these and set up our beds. One bathroom.....and that was a mess......a faucet that sprayed water all over you and hardly had enough water coming out to wet a rag. The whole place had carpet cemented down, ages old, very damp. Then the parade back up to where we were to scrap. She had a huge store attached to this room. Almost like a hoarders store. She then told us we were on our own for dinner. Also that she locked the place up and everyone had to be out at midnight. Usually you come and go at these things.
Usually here are places that you can go sit comfortably or walk to so that you aren't sitting in a hard chair for hours. There were nothing but hard chairs and the scary sleeping cave. I was so sore from sitting so long.
The girl sponsoring this event was loud and annoying. No freebies no demos no nothing. I had to buy a bottle of water from the owner. She did provide breakfast and lunch. All store bought right out of the package stuff. My friend, her friend and I left at 4 p.m. on Saturday. No way was I sleeping in that cave another night. I was so glad to get back home. So sad that something I had looked forward to was a bust. I did manage to do some scrapbooking. I couldn't hear to talk to anyone. Everyone being so loud and shouting and going out for smokes. I think the three of us early leavers all felt the same. The owner had set the tone early on about the lights being on and not trusting us alone in her store.
I called Mr Cozy early on and said I was coming home. He went and got steaks to cook for us for dinner. He also made arrangements to take Goose and Hope to the movies on Sunday. The movie was something I was avoiding but wanted to go with them. We saw the Wimpy Kid movie. The girls liked it. It was a perfect movie to take them to. Later Mr. Cozy and I had Mexican food and watched the closing events of the Olympics. So the week-end wasn't a bust. Glad I came home early though.
I hope the week-end went well for all of you.
Please pray for Laurie's husband (What I see in my dreams) LuLu (Nana takes a break) Claudia's husband (Mockingbird Hill Cottage) and for a little boy that lives close to me. He fell down his interior steps of his house on Thursday. His mom had to do CPR and he was rushed to the hospital. Just learned this morning he was life flighted to Children's and fighting for his life. I don't know what happened. His name is Landon and he is only five. Thanks friends.

Oh, wow! That was a bummer on the scrapbooking event. Glad you decided to leave early and save part of the weekend to enjoy. Your prayer requests have been noted and they will all be in my prayers. Hope the little boy is going to be okay. Hugs

Wow, that was a horrible event! Yikes.....what a mess and disappointment for you. Leaving early was a good idea but too bad you couldn't get your $$ back.

You should let others know about this so that they aren't tricked.

I could hardly believe what I was reading. Where does this woman comes from? Under a rock?

You did better than I would have done. I don't think that I would have spent the night.

You probably would learn even more about book scrapping from your local library.

I would let her know of my big disappointment.

wow that sounds like a nightmare to me. I am not sure I would have lasted as long as you had. I would let them know you were disappointed it they don't already.

Oh my, what a rotten scrapbooking event. Such a disappointment. I can't believe you slept there even one night. At least your sweet husband made the weekend better.

What kind of torture scrapbooking course did you sign up for. Scary. I would reconmend that place to anyone. LOL. Smiles, Susie

Bummer about your scrapbook time..I think you should get your money refunded!
And let others know it's not a good place!!! That is most important! I hope you got my email about the swap and your partner.
Take care..

I am so sorry that your scrapbooking event was such a disappointment. I know I would have felt the same way you did. Ugh. I'm glad you were able to salvage some of your weekend.

Unbelievable - did she actually think ppl would go for it? I agree, if you can't get a refund I definitely would make sure others knew what they were getting into!

OH I am soooo very sorry. It makes me sad for you that your trip was a bust. What a rip off this woman is to scrappers.
It's heartbreaking to look forward to something like you did and then have it turn out so bad.
Glad you left when you did and came home to your sweetie pie. Sounds like he wanted to save some of your weekend for you.
If you get a chance see the movie Hope Springs. I want to do a post about it tonight if I can.
I will had all of your friends to my prayers. So sad about your little friend I hope he is okay by now.
Been wondering about your Son and how he is doing after having to deal with horrible shootings in CO.
Take care honey
Love ya

Hi Debby, I don't know if I would have lasted as long as you did. You look forward to it and then get there to find it was not what you were expecting. The sleeping arrangements were something and only one bathroom. Unreal. I will pray for all them this evening. I have had Laurie on my mind off and on today wondering if anyone knew how the surgery went. When you are a caregiver, you really worry. So Glad that your hubby was there to fix you a nice supper. Have a great day. Hugs Your Missouri Friend.

What a major bummer your weekend of fun was such a bust. I would have created a sign with all my scrapbooking stuff that reflected the misery I was feeling while there lol
Prayers all around for those needy souls....
big hugs,

Hi Debby,
Oh how horrible. Your experience was just the opposite of what it should have been. So sad.
On another note, I saw the Wimpy Kid movie recently with the kiddos...they really liked it, and honestly, I sort of did too. ;)
That was nice that your hubby had some steaks as a cheerful homecoming for you.
