The Rural Society Garden and Antique Sale

Goodness, I am having lots of issues posting today.  Here are part of the pictures.  I guess there will be a part two coming later.  There were lots of beautiful flowers.  There was a big crowd and lots to choose from.  It was hot.  I met my friend Sue from Sullivan and Murphy.  We always have a fun and crazy time.  Her sweet husband was with her.   The three of us had a good time.  We didn't buy very much.  It's just fun seeing what the vendors have and what people buy.  I will show you what I got when Blogger is nice to me.  We got a couple of hot dogs and a muffin and we ate in the greenhouse.  Yes, it was hot in there.  A chicken wandered in.  Sue ran to take a picture.  All of a sudden that chicken or rooster was squawking and running.  He /she was leading Sue on a chase.  We wish we'd had that on video.  We continued to shop making friends with all the farm animals.  The atmosphere is peaceful and creatures everywhere.  The owners home, milk house, outbuildings have been featured in Country Living this year.

I loved these little container gardens.  They were like fairy gardens with different themes.  The container part reminded me of small sand and water tables.
Love this one.  I may try to do this.
We then drove back to Granville through the country side.( But before we got out of town, Sue saw a pizza shop and got a pizza to go.  I ate my yogurt and banana since I can't eat pizza.)    We thought that the barn sale on Burg Street was going on.  Well, we pull into the farm, got out and kept saying HELLO.  You could hear something......I think they were afraid of us and by rites they should have.  We decided that they were not having the sale, obviously.  I thought  maybe it was today but it is actually next week-end......we found out later. So we went to the estate sale for the Buxton Inn.  Beautiful furniture and prices were quite high.  Next stop was Whitts' Custard.  I think that Sue's husband thought this was the highlight of the day.  We always have so much fun.....sometimes a little crazy.  What a great couple to spend time with.

It sounds like you had a wonderful day...and it sounds like pizza (for them) and custard might have been the true highlight of the day. What a beautiful day you had for tooling around- xo Diana

It still makes me sad that the Buxton is being sold. BIG SAD FACE. They had some lovely furniture and would be cool to have a piece of history. Thanks for sharing the great pics....looks like you had a lot of fun.

Do you realize that there are no pictures of us together? What were we thinking? Guess chasing a chicken and flitting about talking to everyone took precedence, huh? LOL I'm looking forward to the S'field show and the Vintage Marketplace in 2 weeks! I think working Kathy's booth will be a blast. You better come and visit! xo Sue

Now if I can just find a box to make into a garden I am going to try and make one of those. IF not, a LARGE pot will have to do. Tomorrow is the day for garden making! :) What a fun day you had and it made me ...melancholy for times past when Pat was alive and all the time we spent with our friends...how I miss it all. He has passed away and they now live in Arkansas. I miss my life so much sometimes.
Hugs,
Mona

Sounds like you had fun. Wish you would have taken photos of Sue and the chicken. When I told my husband that they sold the Buxton Inn, his first questions was did they sell the cats? I suppose the cats and the ghosts probably stayed with the building.

No picture of Sue chasing that chicken down, Debby? : ) I'm glad you all had a nice day for it. I can't eat pizza either {celiac disease}. You've made me think I should probably bring some of my gluten free foods with me and/or some fruit to the Springfield Extravaganza this coming weekend.

Happy Mother's Day!
